This five-day symposium will offer a series of techniques for transforming the most problematic challenges encountered in everyday caregiving. The spirit, skills and structure of Motivational Interviewing are immediately applicable to clinicians, healthcare workers, therapists, and caregivers in all kinds of clinical settings. Here we will approach the daunting task of creating hope within hopelessness, gracefully exploring a person's spirituality and looking at trauma through a compassionate lens.
Come and join Dr. Jennifer L. Smith in this high-level Motivational Interviewing course. Participants will attend a four-hour refresher training on May 8th and conduct 2 taped MI sessions with Standardized Patients on May 15th and May 22nd. Dr. Smith will provide individualized written and verbal feedback during half-hour phone supervision sessions after each practice session. This course is intended to assist in the development and augmentation of skills acquisition and to increase understanding and use of the MI approach.
