In this 1-day workshop you will:

1. Deepen your understanding of hope and the role it plays in motivational interviewing
2. Strengthen your awareness of where hope lives inside of you and your practice
3. Strengthen your ability to nurture hope with and in the people you work with

Target Audience

This course will bridge the concepts of Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care/Practice.  The recognition of the impact trauma has on an individual and their behavior is at an all-time high.  We see the impact of trauma in every aspect of care delivery in healthcare and behavioral healthcare.  We will examine how MI can be used to empower individuals by strategically engaging and strengthening their executive functioning to progress towards positive behavior change and improved personal outcomes. Includes a BONUS: Post train

Intermediate Motivational Interviewing training is an intensive skill-building session. Participants are expected to arrive prepared to practice the skills that were learned in the introductory level training. If you are already comfortable with the following concepts, you are probably ready for the intermediate level:

1. Ambivalence

2. Change Talk and Sustain Talk

3. Righting Reflex

4. Spirit of MI

5. OARS

In this course there will be a review of the underlying spirit, structure,and principles of Motivational Interviewing. This course invites and challenges students to look deeper, to do more complex reflections, and to give themselves more feedback. Participants will look at the skills that will help get clients to the ambivalence and the struggle. At the end of the course participants will Demonstrate and practice MI in action by applying MI in a live, recorded conversation.
