Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing

The class will explore the foundations of Mindfulness and how Mindfulness and MI intersect and blend.

The class is a Pacticum support of my Mindfulness Meditation Teachers Certification.

The details:

Eight 60-minute sessions on Sundays

Dates: Sunday July 17th- Sept 11th from 10-11am-Pacific (no class on Spet 4th Labor Day Weekend )

Part One: Foundation of Mindfulness

Topics include: What is Mindfulness, Mindfulness of breath, Mindfulness of body, Mindfulness of thoughts and feelings

Basic Motivational Interviewing (up to 25 participants)   Dates: Part 1 11/16/22 1pm - 4:15pm EST; Part 2 11/17/22 1pm - 4:15 pm EST

We have adapted our usual two-day workshop for a virtual tele-conferencing format to provide participants with an opportunity to explore creative ways of integrating these approaches into an effective therapeutic intervention -- when to use, when not to use Motivational Interviewing. Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered, evidence-based, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence.

The learning process is varied across several modalities, to maximize your opportunity to familiarize yourself with motivational interviewing as it can be applied in your practice.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a conversation style that supports change in a manner congruent with a person’s own values and concerns using collaborative, goal-orientated methods of communication. This introduction covers the spirit, core skills and processes of MI, as well as the most current research of MI use and effective practice. Professionals from a wide array of helping roles such as education, dental care, addictions, healthcare, social services and counseling can benefit from learning MI.

Self-Paced Online MI Training With Coaching

Training includes 13 self-paced modules with animated videos, post-tests, and exercises for you to really learn the skills, not just the theory. Two 90 minute online sessions ( 3 hours) with the instructor and a small group are included. Participants receive a certificate of completion after attending all sessions, passing all post-tests, and submitting a course evaluation. CEs are available for Addiction Counselors and Mental Health professional.
