Motivational Interviewing: Deepening your skills

This workshop provides basic and intermediate training in Motivational Interviewing concepts and skills.  The Spirit of MI is covered in depth, as well as the micro skills and the four tasks.  This training is a combination of lecture, discussion, demonstration and practice.  The utmost care is used in helping participants feel comfortable in trying out new skills and responding to new concepts.  Social workers, counselors and MFTs can earn 12 CEUs from the Ohio board.

Intermediate Motivational Interviewing (up to 25 participants) Dates: Part 1 06/27/23 12:45pm - 4:00pm EST; Part 2 06/28/23 12:45pm - 4:00pm EST

In this course there will be a review of the underlying spirit, structure, and principles of Motivational Interviewing. This course invites and challenges students to look deeper, to do more complex reflections, and to give themselves more feedback. Participants will look at the skills that will help get clients to the ambivalence and the struggle. At the end of the course participants will Demonstrate and practice MI in action by applying MI in a live, recorded conversation.

Introduction to Motivational Interviewing

Introductory to Key Motivational Interviewing (MI) concepts. MI is a collaborative conversation style for strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change.

In this 6-hour instructor-led workshop, participants will take part via a live webinar format (Zoom), watch videos, and engage in experiential exercises.

Training Objectives
In this Introduction to Key Motivational Interviewing (MI) Concepts, participants will:

Virtual Intermediate/Advanced Motivational Interviewing Training

This intensive experiential workshop will build on the theory, principles, and skills of motivational interviewing and related motivation-enhancing behavior change approaches. Participants will be guided
through a sequence of experiential activities to continue to explore and shape counseling practice behavior, and to build more advanced skills in motivational interviewing. This workshop is
appropriate for helping professionals with prior minimal to moderate exposure.

A beginning and intermediate Motivational Interviewing training will be held Tuesday January 24 and Wednesday January 25, 2023, from 9a to 4:30p via Zoom.  12 CEUs have been approved for Ohio social workers, counselors and MFTs.  This presentation is a combination of lecture, videos, demonstrations and multiple breakout sessions for practice.  If interested, or for questions, please email Gary.stofle@gmail.com.  Fee $200; some partial scholarships are available.
