In this course there will be a review of the underlying spirit, structure,and principles of Motivational Interviewing. This course invites and challenges students to look deeper, to do more complex reflections, and to give themselves more feedback. Participants will look at the skills that will help get clients to the ambivalence and the struggle. At the end of the course participants will Demonstrate and practice MI in action by applying MI in a live, recorded conversation.

A beginning and intermediate Motivational Interviewing training will be held Tuesday January 24 and Wednesday January 25, 2023, from 9a to 4:30p via Zoom.  12 CEUs have been approved for Ohio social workers, counselors and MFTs.  This presentation is a combination of lecture, videos, demonstrations and multiple breakout sessions for practice.  If interested, or for questions, please email Gary.stofle@gmail.com.  Fee $200; some partial scholarships are available. Intermediate trainings are skill-building sessions in which you will learn how to implement the knowledge acquired in basic trainings. Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of:

• MI Spirit

• OARS

• Change Talk

• Sustain Talk

Participants will expand on these fundamental concepts and learn about:

• Different types of change talk

• Responding to Change talk

• Responding to Sustain Talk

• Four processes of MI

This intermediate Skills Lab course is all about skill practice and integration! Experiential education--We learn best by doing!
