Motivational Interviewing: Advancing the Practice

This workshop is for professionals who already practice MI skills in their work. Participants in this training will have the opportunity to discuss their clinical challenges, to receive feedback on their skills from peer learners, and to find one’s own voice within the style of Motivational Interviewing.  This is, essentially, a full day of practice with feedback from a MINT trainer. 

~~This interactive workshop will focus on advanced elements of MI. Practicing and measuring the advanced skills of listening, responding to discord and change talks will be the components of this workshop. Integrating MI with other approaches will be addressed.

Participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate the ability to evoke and amplify change talk.
• Practice and demonstrate high-level MI skills, including complex reflections.
• Develop individual plans for implementation and support of their MI practice.

This 1-day training will offer new techniques, intensive skill building and the opportunity to process successes and challenges encountered in the field. This training is appropriate for those who have already received beginner/intermediate MI training and have utilized MI in their professional capacities. Come prepared to ask questions and share your experiences utilizing Motivational Interviewing. This training offers 6 CEUs.

This 1-day training will offer new techniques, intensive skill building and the opportunity to process successes and challenges encountered in the field. This training is appropriate for those who have already received beginner/intermediate MI training and have utilized MI in their professional capacities. MI III: Advancing Down The Path - 

After initial training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), practitioners are often left to wonder “how do I advance these skills in everyday practice?” Motivational Interviewing is a skill that improves with practice and feedback. To help facilitate moving towards greater proficiency in MI, we designed this innovative, one-day session to build understanding and skills. This interactive training will combine brief didactics, discussion, experiential activities, and self-reflection to encourage practitioner growth at all levels of experience.

Motivational Interviewing Advanced Skill Development

In this training you will receive individual feedback regarding Motivational Interviewing practice, have intensive observed practice in Motivational Interviewing skills and update knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (learning about new research and developments).  Participants will strengthen and practice empathic counseling skills,  understand and practice the directive aspects of MI, and build up the capacity to cultivate change talk and soften sustain talk.
