Introductory

This half-day (4 hours) live session is ideal for busy individuals looking for introductory or refresher training. Whether you’re a clinician in a behavioral health setting, a supervisor trying to boost staff morale or a nurse helping patients manage diabetes, motivational interviewing (MI) training can help you create conversations that empower people to make meaningful changes.

Curriculum pace and flow is intentionally designed to maximize engagement and interaction in a virtual environment.

Learning Objectives:

A beginning and intermediate Motivational Interviewing training will be held Thursday November 17 and Friday November 18 from 9a to 4:30p via Zoom.  12 CEUs have been approved for Ohio social workers, counselors and MFTs.  This presentation is a combination of lecture, videos, demonstrations and multiple breakout sessions for practice.  If interested, or for questions, please email Gary.stofle@gmail.com.  Fee $200; some partial scholarships are available.

During this four-week online workshop, participants will learn: the fundamentals of motivational interviewing, the core OARS strategies of the motivational interviewing process, ways to identify and elicit change talk, as well as strategies for exploring and resolving ambivalence. The learning process is varied across several modalities, to maximize your opportunity to familiarize yourself with motivational interviewing as it can be applied in your practice.

We have adapted our usual two-day workshop for a virtual tele-conferencing format to provide participants with an opportunity to explore creative ways of integrating these approaches into an effective therapeutic intervention -- when to use, when not to use Motivational Interviewing. Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered, evidence-based, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence.
