Valerie is a MINT-certified Motivational Interviewing trainer and a practicing licensed clinical social worker in Berkeley, with more than fifteen years of clinical experience. She trains and consults for clinics, hospitals, county programs, and health organizations across the Bay Area.
Her background includes leading clinical training and quality programs inside health-tech organizations — as Clinical Director at Joyable, where she trained coaching teams to fidelity in Motivational Interviewing and CBT, and shaped the clinical protocols those teams worked from. She now brings that same experience to organizations directly, as an independent clinical strategy and training consultant.
I'm a MINT-certified Motivational Interviewing trainer and a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Berkeley, California, with more than fifteen years of clinical experience. I train and consult for clinics, hospitals, county programs, and health organizations. I work both in person and remotely. In-person trainings are across the San Francisco Bay Area. Virtual trainings I deliver anywhere in the US - most of my out-of-state work is remote. Before working independently I was Clinical Director at Joyable, where I trained coaching teams to fidelity in MI and CBT and shaped the clinical protocols they worked from. I still see clients, which keeps the training grounded in real sessions rather than a curriculum. What I offer: introductory through advanced MI training, group training for teams, individual and group supervision, and MITI-based coding and practice feedback.
