Ty Crocker is an experienced Motivational Interviewing (MI) trainer with 20 years in the criminal justice system, dedicated to training and professional development for human services and criminal justice professionals. MINT-trained in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, in 2012, Ty has led MI training across Colorado, the U.S., and internationally since 2010, including co-facilitating a MINT Training for New Trainers (TNT) in New Orleans in 2018 with co-trainers from the U.S., Mexico, and New Zealand.
A skilled Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) coder, Ty has extensive experience in measuring practitioner fidelity to MI’s evidence-based practices and has spent nearly 15 years coaching and leading MI learning groups. They contribute to the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) by reviewing applications for new TNT participants and trainers.
Ty also played a key role in a statewide initiative to embed MI into Colorado’s criminal justice system, focusing on cross-agency learning and collaboration and applying implementation science to ensure MI’s successful integration. This decade-long effort spanned training, coaching, and skill-building across corrections, probation, community corrections, and other agencies.
Currently the manager of training and professional development for Colorado Probation, Ty has delivered impactful training to diverse audiences across criminal justice and human services sectors, including behavioral health and child welfare, fostering positive change for practitioners and clients alike.
