Tim Devitt, Psy.D., MS.Ed., LCPC, CADC, has committed the past 35+ years to working as a homeless outreach worker, team leader, program director, therapist, researcher, teacher, executive leader and consultant. He currently operates a therapy practice in Chicago, with a specialization in integrated mental health and substance use care for adolescents and adults, and consults with community-based organizations in underserved areas of Chicago. His past program development work has included leading the integration of mental health and harm reduction substance use services with assertive community treatment teams, community support teams, permanent supported housing programs and outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use treatment programming.
Tim has presented nationally and co-authored 19 peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter on the integration of evidence-based practices to address the complex needs of people with co-occurring substance use conditions and serious mental illness. He is the proud recipient of the 2022 William White Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded by the Illinois Chapter of The National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Counselors, a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), a lecturer at the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice, The University of Chicago (2011-2024), a senior adjunct faculty at Adler University (2018-2023) and board member with Edna’s Circle, a low-barrier harm reduction housing program being developed in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago.
It is my privilege to tailor MI trainings and follow up technical assistance to support frontline staff and community-based organizations serving populations that benefit from all forms of outreach to engage in care.
