Trainer Statement

Dr. DeWitt describes feeling the tug of Motivational Interviewing back in 2003 when working with a patient struggling to manage their diabetes. She attended a training led by Dr. Chris Dunn and felt her course begin to shift. His pole vaulting stories were poignant and funny and there was something much more; this natural draw to how change happens. The greatest gift of her career has been futher entering the Motivational Interviewing community and having the priveledge to be a member of MINT. Motivational Interviewing has changed the way she works and trains, consults and supervises and ultimately, how she is in the world.

Dr. DeWitt believes that learning should be fun, interactive, engaged and model the experience we are learning to create. It should safely take learners outside their comfort zone where they can try out new things. Dr. DeWitt incorporates multiple learning modalities in order to connect with varying learning styles and faciliate engagement and learning sustainability. She is committed to promoting organizational development, sustainability and ongoing consultation.
