I have been actively practicing MI since 2000, and became a trainer in 2003. My professional background is in general nursing and specialist health promotion and spans over 30 years of experience working with children, young people and adults across a broad range of settings. My special interest is in health inclusion, i.e. engaging clients who are not readily accessed by 'traditional' health care provision. I have worked extensively within the youth justice and parenting sectors - with a health improvement agenda. My clinical experience has been largely focussed in sexual health and I currently practice as a specialist sexual health nurse. I have delivered multi-level MI training to practitioners in primary health, dietetics, mental health, youth justice, probation, social work, drug and alcohol, housing, health promotion and education, as well as to students at University degree level. I particularly enjoy taking MI to the places it has not yet reached, feeling very lucky to be able to share something that I (and hopefully my patients and clients) have found so profoundly beneficial.
