Trainer Statement

Trainer Statement

I offer advanced clinical training and consultation for mental health and addiction treatment organizations seeking to improve engagement, outcomes, clinician effectiveness, and workforce vitality. My work is grounded in contemporary psychotherapy science and informed by a central, evidence-supported principle: meaningful change in treatment is driven less by rigid adherence to protocols and more by the quality of the therapeutic alliance, shared formulation, collaborative goals, and clinician responsiveness.

As a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, I specialize in helping clinicians work effectively with complex, high-acuity populations, including individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, trauma histories, and treatment ambivalence. I bring particular expertise in Motivational Interviewing, feedback-informed treatment, trauma-centered care, and integrative psychotherapy, and I help clinicians translate these approaches into practical, repeatable skills that improve real-world outcomes.

A defining feature of my training style is its experiential nature. Rather than relying primarily on didactic teaching, my workshops emphasize live demonstrations, real-play practice, small-group exercises, and structured feedback. This approach helps clinicians not only understand concepts intellectually, but embody them relationally—resulting in durable skill acquisition, increased confidence, and greater clinical effectiveness. Participants consistently report that these trainings are emotionally engaging, memorable, and immediately applicable to their daily work.

I also support organizations in implementing Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT) and outcome-monitoring systems that foster cultures of responsiveness, humility, and continuous improvement. This includes consultation on workflow integration, supervision models, alliance repair, and deliberate practice. My work helps teams move beyond compliance-driven metrics toward practice-based evidence that is meaningful to clinicians, clients, and systems alike.

In addition to clinical skills training, I address clinician vitality, burnout prevention, and professional sustainability. I believe effective care depends on clinicians who feel supported, reflective, and connected to meaning in their work. My trainings create space for reflection, shared learning, and renewed professional purpose—elements that are essential for retention and high-quality care in today’s demanding treatment environments.

I write, teach, consult, and mentor nationally, and I bring intellectual rigor, warmth, and cultural humility to every collaboration. Whether working with frontline clinicians, supervisors, or leadership teams, my goal is the same: to help organizations deliver care that is relationally grounded, outcome-informed, and genuinely healing for both clients and providers.
