I originally was trained in MI at the University of Washington, but had the pleasure of completing advanced trainings and learning communities with Bill Miller, PhD and others during my time at the University of New Mexico. Throughout the last 10+ years I have done MI with justice-involved adolescents, college students (BASICS), individuals who are incarcerated, and adults in hospital, inpatient, and outpatient clinical settings. I also have seen and done MI in numerous research studies, including my own in a jail setting, and am passionate about disseminating MI into other settings - thus, I completed my MINT training in 2014 and am excited to share MI with others!
I understand that settings and contexts can vary greatly, and like to work with organizers and participants to adapt my trainings to fit the needs and goals of the audience. From this, I like to incorporate content review, videos, in-person practice and feedback, and even a little homework to meet these objectives. I am happy to chat more about MI and how I train, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!
