I have been using MI since 2007 in research-based behavioral medicine interventions with adolescents, their primary caregivers, medical staff, and school staff (diabetes, asthma, obesity, HIV). I have focused primarily on treatment adherence; however, my work has also included health/social services access, substance use, delinquent youth, interpersonal conflict, and knowledge/skill aquisition. I have experience working with extended family members, physicians, nurses, dietitians, school social workers, community health workers (CHWs), teachers, administrative staff, and various other key players in family and community systems. I supervised five CHWs in the delivery of an MI-based intervention for obese adolescents and their primary caregivers from 2010 - 2014. I have also assisted in the development of treatment manuals for several chronic illness management projects, integrating MI with CBT and psychoeducation/medical managment education. In September 2012, I attended MINT Supervisor Training in Ft. Wayne, IN. My education includes degrees in clinical behavioral psychology (M.S.) and law (J.D.), and I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in political science, focusing on public policy. I am particularly interested in facilitating MI skill development to help practitioners in the areas of medicine, psychology, behavior analysis, nutrition/fitness, performance management, law, and mediation to work with their clients at a level of optimal effectiveness and efficiency. I available for MI workshops, individual coaching, materials development, and consultation.
