Improving others' quality of life through preventative health care continues to my intention. My Passion for finding the most credible, evidence-based, efficient & effective approaches for helping people lead me to Motivational Interviewing (especially given its best-practice status). I've utilized MI in clinics, nursing homes, & hospitals, having trained related students and professionals, as well as mental health and department of corrections professionals. Beyond training on MI, I have had the honor of providing trainings for MI coding, utilizing the MI Treatment Integrity (MITI) tool after going through multiple trainings on it and providing many feedback reports to MI practitioners after many inter-rater reliability meetings. I'm also very fortunate and honored to be an author on the MI Competency Assessment (MICA) tool. To this day, I utilize both the MITI and the MICA for evaluating & providing tailored feedback for those seeking to improve their MI skills with growing interest in the similarities and differences based on the project. In Krakow, Poland, I completed my TnT training to become a member of this wonderful international MI Network of Trainers (MINT) that has so many interesting, extraordinary, and thoughtful people. Now in MINT, I've been able to partake in the Professional Development Committee to further understand and contribute ideas to what it means to have a quality assurance and training improvement process within MINT. As I continue to train MI in a variety of settings for a variety of professionals, I continue to focus on the evidence of MI, incorporating the information into trainings & systems implementation, while providing direct clinical service and submitting tapes of this work to further improve my MI efficiency and efficacy.
