Ms. Jennifer D. Luther is an author and master trainer of evidence-based practices in criminal justice. She has worked to design, develop and implement such approaches in jurisdictions across the country. Serving in the field of corrections for more than twenty years has afforded her the opportunity to explore the implementation of these practices throughout the continuum of criminal and juvenile justice care. Her primary focus has been translating the literature of Core Correctional Practices into understandable applications for both leadership and front-line staff. Currently, she is Chief Executive Officer of Correctional Rehabilitation Services, LLC based in Tallahassee, FL. She is passionate about our individual and collective ability to facilitate pro-social change.
In a world where our human differences often appear more obvious to us than our similairities, I am honored to be able to train criminal justice staff in empathy, compassion and understanding. It is this very understanding that connects us in profound ways and leads us to increased kindness. There are times when it appears that individuals who have engaged in criminal behaviors are disregarded as somehow less than human. Motivational Interviewing offers us an opportunity to bring our shared humanity back to the forefront of the work of correctional rehabilitation. I am eternally grateful to have found, understood and shared Motivational Interviewing within this context.
