I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State with 20+ years working in the mental health and addiction treatment fields. I currently work as the treatment team leader of an adult inpatient psychiatric unit at Hutchings Psychiatric Center, a facility operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health in Syracuse, NY. I have been a practitioner and trainer of Motivational Interviewing since 2008, receiving my initial training and coaching as part of a 1.5 year long train-the trainer program. I have conducted multiple trainings for staff in the mental health and addiction treatment fields, health home care managers, and human service workers. I currently run two MI coaching groups at Hutchings Psychiatric Center. I participate in the Onondaga County Motivational Interviewing Steering Committee, a multi-agency group sponsored by the county with the aim of providing training and coaching in Upstate New York. I have an interest the connection between MI and trauma-informed-care, and also train agency staff and administration in trauma-informed practices. I also am interested in the use of MI in agency and business settings as a way to improve the culture and experience for both customers and staff.
