My name is Menza Hon-wai Chu. By trade, I'm an occupational therapist working in mental health service for more than 32 years. I'm also a Certified Cognitive Therapist, ACT (Academy of Cognitive Therapy). Currently, I'm serving as a Clinical Educator for OT students having clinical placemnt in our hospital. I am also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I was first introduced and trained with MI by Prof Igor Kutsenok, a Professor of Psychiatry in University of California San Diego, in 2012. In clinical practice, we have met many mental health issues associated with substance abuse in the recent decade. MI is an effective skill in handling the addictive behavior and the ambivalence among our clients. It's a very helpful tool to help our clients identify and tackle the discrepancy between the current condition and the target behavior, and to elicit their own potential to initiate the change. Thanks to the training by Bill (William Miller), Denise Ernst and Paul Kong, I have more insights about the power of MI.
Let's explore the power of MI.
