More About Me

About Me

I currently work as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby (part-time) and as a freelance trainer. I have over 25 years experience working within the field of health and well-being, having had a variety of roles in health promotion during my 16 years of working in the USA. During my years as a practitioner, I worked extensively with individuals and groups to support lifestyle change and positive well-being, and designed programmes that have the spirit of MI at their heart. As an academic I teach on a MSc in behaviour change and incorporate principles and practices of MI into my teaching and curricula. I am happy to have the chance to incorporate training others in MI into my work and enjoy collaborating with other MI trainers. I am also involved in the MINT UK and Ireland group.

Trainer Statement

I provide training workshops in Motivational Interviewing and other areas (e.g. Qualitative Research Methods, Behaviour Change, Positive Pscyhology) for groups of professionals across a variety of fields (e.g NHS, health and safety). I offer short 'taster' sessions in MI and longer workshops. I enjoy co-training and bringing classrooms to life using interactive methods and lively discussion.
