I am a lifelong learner and facilitator of learning. My career spans over 3 decades in the behavioral healthcare field, focusing specifically on the treatment of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. I have taken part in and provided Motivational Interviewing (MI) trainings since the 1990s. Over the past 10 years, I have collaborated with nurses, physicians, physical therapists, medical students, chiropractors, and other healthcare professionals interested in learning and developing their skills in MI.
My Master's of Science degree from the SUNY Buffalo State College International Center for Studies in Creativity is one of the best investments in my education. I am fortunate to have a curiosity for learning and establishing a safe environment for others to tap into their curiosity and creativity. My studies in creativity have expanded my skills and tools for facilitating problem-solving, strategic planning, coaching of individuals and teams, and providing training-of-trainers. Feedback I receive confirm my energetic style and passion for learning.
Personally, I am a wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, listening to music and having fun with friends and family.
I believe people have a sense of direction and motivation to learn. It is beneficial to provide a variety of activities to engage diverse learning styles and develop materials that are relevant, practical and applicable to individuals. I aim to provide trainings that give learners many options for engaging with the information. I create a safe and fun environment for practicing skills and for receiving and providing feedback about their experience.
