Scott T. Walters, Ph.D., is Professor of Population and Community Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. As a researcher and educator, his work blends motivational interviewing research, training, and practice. His recent research projects have focused on substance use, mental health, interpersonal violence, cancer risk, and other public health problems. In the past 20 years, he has conducted more than 250 motivational interviewing trainings for a variety of groups, ranging from brief overviews to extended coaching and feedback. In his spare time, he enjoys writing newspaper articles on topics like Ben Franklin, Western movies, and cartoon villains.
