My educational background is in public health and psychology. I've worked at the University of Michigan, University Health Service since 1993. Most of my work has been in the alcohol and other drugs area, but I've also worked in other health areas such as wellness, HIV and sexual assault prevention. I manage the Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) and Individual Marijuana Education Program (IMEP), the Stay in the Blue social marketing campaign and conduct regular MI trainings for staff, faculty and students of various ilks. I also train in MI privately, outside of my University work.
Marsha Benz provides Motivational Interviewing (MI) training for a variety of professionals in health care, health education, addictions treatment, mental health, social services, student conduct and higher education. She has been conducting MI trainings since 2007 on the University of Michigan campus and in her private business, Ann Arbor Motivational Interviewing. She provides trainings and informational sessions for MI from 1-20 hours. Trainings can be tailored to the participants' needs.
