Intermediate Online B. Jope MI & CBT

Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (up to 20 participants)   Dates: Part 1 05/13/25 - 9:00am - 12:15pm Eastern Time; Part 2 05/14/25 - 9:00am - 12:15pm Eastern Time

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a person-centered, evidence-based, goal-oriented method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change. This active, skill-building workshop focuses on the use of MI by clinicians who use cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) in their roles. Participants will be supported to consider the use of the spirit, skills, and strategies of MI to engage clients in CBT, set agendas for overall treatment as well as for individual sessions, evoke the client’s own motivation for change, and use a planning protocol to increase adherence to out-of-session assignments.

Participants must have already completed a Basic MI training (spirit and skills) and be familiar with the tenets and components of CBT to participate in this training.

The Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy workshop is six hours in length, and is delivered via the Zoom platform over two days. Each session is three hours and fifteen minutes in length to allow for a break, and will run from 9:00am to 12:15pm Eastern Time (ET). This course is eligible for 6 continuing education credits for the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB).

Participants must attend both sessions in their entirety and complete a course evaluation to receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credit, if applicable.
