1. 2-day Introductory Training MI-one is designed for helping professionals who have not received prior training. Participants will be introduced to MI fundamentals.
2. 2-day Intermediate Training MI-two is appropriate for individuals who have completed an introductory MI training and practiced MI in an applied setting.
a. Intermediate/Advanced MI Training
3. 2-day Spanish Introductory Training MI-one is facilitated in Spanish and is appropriate for helping professionals who have not received prior training and or need a refresher. Participants will be introduced to MI fundamentals.

What is Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Motivational Interviewing can significantly improve your relationships with your clients. MI is a collborative , goal-oriented method of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen an individual's motivation for a movement toward a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person's own arguments for change.
Who should attend
MI has become incresingly popular in the last decasdes, expanding into practically any field in which a person is considering making a bahavior change. The training is appropriate for helping professionals who are working with clients to make healthy behaviors, educators, physicians, health educators, life coaches, mental health providers, correction officers, dentists, social workers, case managers, etc.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify MI foundational concepts (what it is and what it's not)
- Experience the Spirit of MI
- Practice the core skills- Open Ended Questions, Reflections, Affirmations, Summaries (OARS) & Explore-Provide-Explore (EPE)
- Describe and practice the four processes of MI (Engaging, Focusing, Evoking, Planning)
- Recognize, respond, and evoke change talk
- Identify how MI fits in your own practice
- Practice MI in real-play scenario with the opportunity to receive coaching and feedback
