Rutgers, NJ USA Introductory

This two-day training will discuss an effective approach in the treatment of challenging clients, and provide participants with an opportunity to explore creative ways of integrating these approaches into an effective therapeutic intervention -- when to use, when not to use Motivational Interviewing. Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered, evidence-based, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. During this two-day workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing, explore ways of integrating Motivational Interviewing theories into other treatment approaches, and practice Motivational Interviewing on "challenging" clients through role playing and discussion.
