About Me

Todd F. Lewis, Ph.D. is a Professor of Counselor Education at North Dakota State University. He was previously Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. Dr. Lewis is past Treasurer and President of the International Association of Addictions and Offender Counselors (IAAOC), a subdivision of the American Counseling Association. He recently service as the IAAOC representative on the Governing Council of the American Counseling Association. Throughout his career, he has taught graduate level students in substance abuse counseling, assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning. Dr. Lewis has published numerous research articles related to substance abuse, collegiate drinking, and theoretical approaches to addictions treatment. He has twice received the Exemplary Research Award from IAAOC for his research. He has presented on these topics at numerous local, state, national, and international venues. Dr. Lewis is currently a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). He manages a consulting business where he trains mental health practitioners, educators, and health promotion specialists in beginning and advanced MI.

Member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) with strong consulting skills in beginning and advanced motivational interviewing (MI), peer consultation, and supervision in MI. Offers structured training programs in MI and is flexible depending on customer's needs. Distance consulting and MI performance review, coaching, and feedback available. Experience consulting with graduate students, individuals, and mental health and university settings.
