Tania is a Professor of Nursing at the Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, at De Montfort University. She has an extensive clinical background in mental health nursing. During her time working in academia she has been involved in a number of multi professional motivational interviewing educational innovation and research projects, all of which revolve around a number of themes such as promoting mental health, wellbeing, resilience and collaborative care planning. Tania's more specific motivational interviewing interests are in school mental health whereby she has recently finished a secondment supporting the roll out of a school mental health programme in Leicestershire UK and advocated for motivational interviewing in schools. As a nurse Tania has also trained many nurses and greatly advocates that motivational interviewing should be more proactively promoted by nurses when carrying out their many roles, from supporting colleague wellbeing, leadership, health promotion and care planning.
Tania orginally developed an interest in motivational interviewing as a clinical nurse specialist working in the field of eating disorders. She became a MINT certified trainer in 2010 and ever since has always enjoyed her motivational interviewing activity, training over the years a broad range of NHS, local authority and school staff.
