Dr Sonia Zammit is a Clinical Psychologist who works both with adults and youth (aged 16+) in her private practice Choices Mind & Body. Sonia has specific interests in helping people who struggle with Trauma, Alcohol and Substance Misuse, Anxiety and Panic and Depression /Mood Disorders. She is also experienced in treatment for gambling, stress management, adjustment difficulties and personality disorders. Sonia prefers to use a client centred approach finding the best fit for an individuals’ needs and utilises a range of interventions with a specific focus on Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Schema Therapy. A large focus is developing a person’s confidence and skills to make their own choices, with the aim to improve a person’s overall quality of life and mental health based on their own values.
Dr Sonia Zammit is registered to practice with the Australian Health Practitioners Agency (AHPRA), and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and Clinical College.
Dr Sonia Zammit's experience in training is drawn from previous work as a Drug and Alcohol Clinician within a team sharing a strong interest and passion for Motivational Interviewing. She is now focused on further developing others skills in Motivational Interviewing through Beginners Training Workshops and Presentations via her work as a private clinical psychologist. Small coaching groups to develop clinicians confidence in starting to bring MI to their practice and consolidate their skills.
