MINT member since 2002, and integrative psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist. I am the behavioral and addiction medicine director for a Northern California internal medicine residency, where I developed a 3 year brief MI curriculum: Linking a Motivational Interviewing Curriculum to the Chronic Care Model, J Gen Intern Med 2010 Oct;25(Suppl 4):620–6. I am the MI trainer for an interdisciplinary integrative health & medicine fellowship.
I have provided MI introductory lectures, 2 day trainings, and MI coaching for schools of medicine, residencies, addiction medicine physicians, integrative medicine clinicians, nurses, health educators, medical social workers, health coaches, lay counselors and others. I am also an SBIRT trainer, which is an early intervention approach for problem drinking that uses brief MI strategies.
