Hi I have worked in the caring professions for over 30 years and during that time I have worked in a variety of settings, from outreach work with people experiencing homelessness to residential work to clinical management. I am a qualified Social Worker, Psychotherapist and Clinical Psychologist.
I was first trained in Motivational Interviewing in 1994 and I became a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) in 2006 after the training in Amsterdam.
Some of the organizations that I have provided training to over the past 12 years are: The Dublin, Galway and Belfast Simon Communities, Depaul Ireland, The Homeless Agency, The Peter McVerry Trust and various Drugs Task Forces. I have also delivered training and worked closely with the travelling community and workers in that field.
I regularly deliver lectures at NUI Galway as part of the Masters in Social Work and the Clinical Doctorate in Psychology.
I believe that training can be both good fun and challenging. I feel strongly about the delivery of training and feel the essence of good training is creating a space where we can reflect on where we are at in relation to our work and aim to put theory into practice.
