Working in the field of gambling and gaming addictions is working with ambivalence. After I attended a MINT trainer led MI workshop I really stepped up my MI game. I thought I was doing motivational interviewing before, but after the training I could see where I could improve. Working with "difficult" clients became easier when I learned to use the difficult emotions their ambivalence brought up in me as an indicator on where to focus the interaction. This is what a quality training can do for practice. I'm hoping to provide that, with a trainer who also practices MI.
Practice makes a good trainer.
