I'm dually licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor. Robert, originally from the Midwest, regularly provides consultation and training services, locally and nationally, to community agencies, churches, schools/ universities and professional organizations across many topic areas, including: motivational interviewing, workplace health/ burnout, raising resilient teens, crisis intervention and postvention, effective responses to traumatic events, threat assessment/management and adolescent substance abuse. I have also authored several publications on the topics of motivational interviewing, addiction, counseling men and boys, disaster mental health and systemic responses to sexual violence.
Like good therapy, I believe that good training starts with understanding the needs of the client. I consider it an honor to be asked to provide training for other professionals, therefore I take a great of deal of time developing training opportunities that meet the needs of my audience. The first step in having me conduct a training is an in-depth discussion of your needs and the outcomes you would like to have participants achieve. From there we would work together to develop a plan you and I think would best benefit you and/or your program. I believe training should be fun, interactive, challenging and inspirational. I want participants to leave my training time yearning to learn more! I've provided MI training in 1/2 day, day long and multi-day formats to participants of all levels.
