I am a Western Australian living on Noongar boodja country. In 2005, I completed my Post graduate Diploma in Counselling through the Notre Dame University in Fremantle. I spent most of my professional career working with young people firstly in public High Schools and subsequently the WA Juvenile Justice systems. My time working with what often was complex presentations for young people and by extension the family system, has led me to my current work as a Senior Workforce Development Officer in the WA Mental Health Commission. In this role, my team and I provide training and resources, workplace and organisational support to agencies that work with people affected by alcohol and other drug use. Motivational Interviewing informs so much of my work and is foundational to my training practice.
I have worked as a trainer in some capacity for over 12 years and passionate about facilitating training, it is a real privilege to work with groups and be able to learn from the collective experience in the room.
Prior to my current work at the WA Mental Health Commission, I was a team leader providing entry level training for the WA Justice System. I currently deliver several training packages as part of a team to build capacity within the alcohol and other drug, mental health and human service sectors.
These training packages include: Trauma Informed Care & Practice, Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD), Emotional Regulation, Co-occurring Mental Health/AOD issues, Suicide Prevention, and of course Motivational Interviewing.
