I am a bicultural and bi-lingual, Latina, Clinical Social Worker LCSW in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I specialize in dual diagnosis substance misuse addiction treatment. I am currently a Behavioral Clinician with Presbyterian Hospital Behavioral Health Recovery Program. I proudly studied at the University of New Mexico and obtained a BA in Sociology and a BA in Spanish. I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University. My professional passion is to accompany my patient’s that struggle with drugs and/or alcohol in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner. Along their side join them in the journey of seeking recovery and healing.
I have over 18 years of experience working with underserved individuals, children and families from different backgrounds and lifestyles in the areas of mental health, health care systems, public health, domestic violence, probation, child protective services, inpatient/outpatient psychiatry and addiction services. I have strong knowledge and understanding of diverse community members including but not limited to children & families, elderly, immigrants, refugees, homeless population, military, survivors of violence, students and LGBTQIA+. I have past experience as a Community Organizer, Community Health Worker, Pathways Navigator, CYFD Child Protective Services Investigator and In-Home Services Practitioner, School Social Worker and the past 12 years as a Therapist/Behavioral Clinician.
The mission of “MI Cultura Coaching, LLC” is to empower and unite diverse communities through Motivational Interviewing, behavioral health training and education. “MI Cultura” provides quality trainings, coaching and/or consulting on evidence-based treatment modalities to those serving diverse populations. I conduct MI trainings in English and Spanish (MI introductory, intermediate and advanced group training), MI consultation, MI supervision, MI in Community Health Work, MI in leadership, MI in healthcare, MI in In-Home Services. MI practice and feedback sessions are provided and encouraged. I proudly support the University of New Mexico Community Health Workers Initiative and the Centre for Collaboration Motivation and Innovation in Canada/USA.
