More About Me

About Me

I was introduced to Motivational Interviewing about 10 years ago. Having been trained in cognitive behavioural interviewing I connected to the linguistics of MI and the focus on intrinsic motivation towards behaviour change. From there, my understanding and passion for MI has continued to grow with the last five years having a significant focus in my work and private life. I have supported development and training of staff for the Department of Corrections and also completed post graduate study specific to MI as part of a Health Science Behaviour Change Post Grad Dip. As a Clinical Manager to counsellors and social workers I trained a team in MI that specialise in family violence treatment services. I am now providing private contract work, lecturing on degree programs and studying towards a Masters in Counselling.

Trainer Statement

I am passionate about behaviour change, in particular how MI contributes to positive outcomes for not just those seeking to explore behaviuor change but also those mandated to enter programmes and how MI might enhance opportunity for behaviour change towards a more positive lifestyle for the individual concerned. I am a Clinical Manager and Behaviour Change Consultant and Trainer. I have a background in criminal behaviour change, child protection investigations and family violence treatment both as a clinician, investigator and trainer in these fields. I have been involved in various facilitation and development of training for the past 15 years having carried training related roles within all areas of my practice. Since 2011 I have delivered training in MI and contributed to design and delivery planning at a National Organisational level.

I am committed to supporting organisations to introduce and develop practice of MI within their related fields, both training of staff as well as guiding an organisational approach to such training. I am passionate about research and also seek opportunities for research related to MI, particularly related to family violence, parenting programmes, youth in schools and general reoffending.
