I have worked across alcohol and other drug services, mental health, community education and workforce development, with a strong focus on supporting people to navigate challenges, recognise their strengths and work towards meaningful change. My professional background includes therapeutic practice, behaviour change facilitation, Mental Health First Aid training, and education and assessment within the AOD sector.
Motivational Interviewing has been an important part of my practice, aligning closely with my values and commitment to strengths-based, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches. I value the spirit of MI and its emphasis on partnership, acceptance, compassion and empowerment, and the importance of meeting people where they are, respecting autonomy and creating space for their own motivations for change to emerge.
Having recently completed the Training for New Trainers (TNT), I am excited to continue developing as an MI trainer and to connect with the MINT community. I look forward to learning alongside others, sharing experiences and contributing to the ongoing development of MI practice and training. I am also currently completing a Master of Social Work/Mental Health Practice, further strengthening my commitment to reflective practice, lifelong learning and supporting positive outcomes for individuals and communities.
