I am a Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisor status, and have over 35 years of experience in the mental health field. I am currently the Principal for Collaborative Communication and Training Services, LLC, providing specialized services designed to enhance patient engagement skills for medical and allied health professionals. I served as the SBIRT training manager for a SAMSHA grant at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio between 2009 and 2013. I am a Registered Health Coach-III with HealthSciences Institute, as well as a certified Health Coaching Performance Assessment (HCPA) coder. I also serve as the behavioral health specialist for the federal disaster medical response team DMAT OH-5, responding to natural and man-made disasters.
I have a particular interest in the uses of MI within the large variety of medical and allied health professions, including the development of a shared MI language in order to improve patients' experiences and outcomes in health care. This includes the integration of physical and mental health treatment, and a mutual approach to enhancing patient engagement.
