I earned my Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Arizona. My introduction to motivational interviewing came in 2017 through a colleague while I was working at the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. That foundational knowledge proved invaluable in a later role with the Mesa Fire & Medical Department, where I supported residents who frequently called 911 for non-emergent needs. During my time there, I participated in numerous trainings to strengthen my MI skills. Most recently, I work for the Phoenix Fire Department’s Community Assistance Program, where I collaborate with staff to enhance their own MI competencies.
