Greetings!!! My name is John Bowers and I'm a Judicial Educator for the State of Utah. I originally hale from Denver where I was an Education Specialist for the State Court Administrators Office, Division of Probation Services. I have been involved with MI for most of my career. I first was exposed to MI in the early 2000's when I was a probation officer for the State of Colorado. In 2005 I was given the opportunity to be a trainer for the state of Colorado and that is about the point I really became versed with MI. During my time in Colorado, I worked on a multi agency grant to saturate the different correction agencies with MI. During this time, I was certified as a coach and coder through J-SAT. So in short, I have trained and worked with MI since 2005. In 2012, I was accepted into the MINT and again find myself working with probation officers in developing their MI skills. In 2011 I moved to the beautiful state of Utah and was hired by the Utah Courts where I have had the opportunity to train both Juvenile Probation Officers and Juvenile Justice Service's staff in Motivational Interviewing.
