I live in the beautiful north of Scotland, and love walking, being outside, and my other occupation, - silversmithing! I have lived in West Africa and also delivered motivational interviewing training in West Africa. I have travelled widely, and am happy to travel anywhere to deliver training. Now that I am retired from my job as a public health specialist in the NHS in Scotland, I have much more time.
I have been a trainer in motivational intervieiwng for over 20 years, and a health improvement and public health specialist for nearly 40 years. My public health work has involved tackling health inequalities and communitiy engagement, as well as supporting a changed culture of practice in health services and partner agencies. I have designed and delivered training all aspescts of health improvement and public health, and to all agencies. I have delivered national training for trainers courses in motivational interviewing and in developing effective practice in improving health at a population level, as well as sex and relationahips education for schools. I train trainers in the use of brain-friendly and creative mothods in their training courses. I am a member of and trainer for the Scottisih MI Coach Group. I also train in asset-based and community development approaches to health.
