About Me

Tena Koe

I live and work in Manukau, Auckland NZ.  I'm passionate about my role as Practice Leader, Department of Corrections.  Outside of work I am mum to two boys now aged 22 and 15 and we live together with my partner, an antiques and art enthusiast and two dogs.  Last year, and this year I have been studying at the University of Canterbury, which soaks up a lot of my spare time.  Other interests include fitness,  I am a regular of Les Mills RPM and a member of the Mercer masters rowing club.

Trainer Statement

In my role as Practice Leader  I work with Probation Officers both individually and in groups to encourage practice reflection and development.  While all staff have completed an introductory training into MI, a key part of my role is to enhance and develop their MI skills. I have a strong background in facilitation of both small and large group trainings.  My role has included a regional and national focus on developing and delivering an intermediate level MI training to all frontline staff.  I have been fortunate enough to have been mentored through my own MI development by Ken McMasters from HMA and have also completed post graduate papers in MI, offered through the University of Canterbury.
