I trained as a RN (Mental Health) in my home country of Scotland over thirty years ago. I have held positions such as Staff Nurse (Child & Asolescent Psychiatry), Specialist Nurse Therapist (Young Peoples Substance Use), Clinical Nurse Speacialist (Community Alcohol Services), Team Co-ordinator (Methadone Maintencnace - Opiod Replacment Services), Lecturer-Practitioner (Substance Use Nursing Education), Lead Nurse (City Wide Susbtance Uses Services), Senior Lecturer (Subtance Use and Mental Health), Advanced Practice Nurse (Addictions) and Professor (Nursing)
I have been a member of MINT since 2002, having completed my TNT in Paris.
After a short hiatus while moving home and country, I became reinstated in 2011.
I first began using Motivational Intervewing (MI) in my own practice in 1997, following completeion of a one year Post Reg Clinical Nurse Specialist education program.
Since joining MINT in 2002, I have developed over 20 years of training experience both in the UK and in Canada.
Training clients have ranged from UK- NHS Teams, Public Health Teams (Ontario) Universities & Colleges (Ontario) In-patient and Community Mental Health Services (Ontario) and Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and Occupational Health Nurses of Ontario (OOHNA).
I have worked independently and as part of a training team with fellow MINties.
