Chris Miles received her Master’s in Social Work degree from Arizona State University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Mental Health Therapist specializing in behavior change and Lifestyle Medicine. In 2014, she became a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and is currently the lead MI trainer for MI Center for Change, LLC. Chris is a member of the Brief Action Planning Professional Network, is certified in Brief Action Planning (BAP) core compentencies and is Co-Chair of the BAP Working Group on Standards and Credentialing. Additonally, she works in the field of Lifestyle Medicine for HCA Mission Healthcare System in Asheville, N.C. where she provides education, counseling support, and health coaching to patients in outpatient pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation programs. She has years of experience as a facilitator for the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease as well as the Pritikin ICR program and is a seasoned public speaker.
Chris provides engaging and interactive trainings in basic, intermediate, and advanced Motivational Interviewing skills as well as Brief Action Planning. She has trained hundreds of professionals serving in social service and case managment organizations, faith based organizations, Child Protective Services, Criminal Justice, and a variety of health care settings. She has been trained in the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) coding systems and is certified in Brief Action Planning (BAP) core compentencies.
Chris works hard to specialize her trainings to meet agency needs and to customize training content to help participants apply MI skills and concepts to their specific client populations. Her training audience has included a wide variety of professions such as mental health therapists, case workers, social workers, addictions counselors, nurses, physicians, physical therapists, exercise specialists, diabetic educators, dieticians, pastors, probation officers, health coaches, financial planners, and lawyers.
