About Me

Dr. Altman is a licensed psychologist and geropsychologist currently working as an Associate Psychologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry. She is also the Psychology Lead for their Behavioral Health Program in Primary Care. She is also appointed as Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Altman received her doctoral degree (PhD) in Counseling Psychology from Lehigh University. She served as a Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School while completing a post-doctoral fellowship at VA Boston/Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Geropsychology. Dr. Altman has generalized training in general psychiatry (e.g., Anxiety disorders, Mood disorders), as well as specializations in health/medical psychology (including a focus on health behavior change), substance abuse, and geropsychology/ neuropsychology. She has trained numerous disciplines in Motivational Interviewing, including nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, physicians, chiropractors, hair stylists/ aestheticians, personal trainers, nutritionists, and social workers. Dr. Altman offers introductory to advanced trainings, supervision and coaching in MI, and coding services and training. She has worked with groups both large and small. Dr. Altman conducts research on Motivational Interviewing and is involved in projects implementing organizational change and program development utilizing MI theory and techniques.
