This training will provide a brief review of basic Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills including the MI Spirit, MI Tasks, and fundamental skills. The training will be a mix of didactic and experiential exercises and we will use breakout rooms to practice the skills. We will provide opportunities for learners to define their own participant scenario and practice advanced MI approaches. The workshop is organized around the MI Tasks, and will cover eliciting and strengthening change talk, softening sustain talk, managing discord, MI as trauma informed care, and how to plan with traumatized and/or mandated clients.
To receive a certificate of completion/CEU learners must attend the full session and complete a training evaluation. Because of our obligation to provide high-quality training to learners and because Marian is an approved CE provider by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, we require audio and video to be on for this training. Four continuing education credits are offered to licensed Indiana practitioners and this can be submitted to your professional board for reciprocity in states other than Indiana.
