Introductory/Intermediate Online G. Stofle

MI Day One.: Relational Aspects.

This first day of the training covers the foundation of MI - the spirit, OARS,  and skills to be able to engage with the client or staff member.  The spirit and these skills are also essential to helping the client choose a focus for the work.  Reflective listening helps engage the client into a therapeutic relationship.  You will leave this first day of training being able to reflectively listen.  The first two of the four tasks - engaging and focusing - are covered in this day as well.

MI Day Two: Technical Aspects.

The focus of this second day of training is on recognizing, eliciting, cultivating, and responding  to change talk.  We will also learn the best ways to respond to both sustain talk and discord.  The last two tasks - evoking and planning are covered on this day as well.
