Approved CEUs - 6 CE Hours, including 3 Ethics CE Hours
Approved through the New Mexico Counseling & Therapy Practice Board and the New Mexico Social Work Board. Participants must attend both sessions in full to receive the 6 CE hours.

This interactive 6-hour training offers a practical and relational introduction to Motivational Interviewing for helping professionals who are new to MI or who want to strengthen an existing foundation. Participants will explore MI Spirit; directing, following, and guiding; the fixing reflex; OARS; change talk and sustain talk; Ask–Offer–Ask; ambivalence; client autonomy; and the thoughtful use of professional expertise. Through demonstrations, clinical vignettes, experiential activities, discussion, and real-play practice, participants will develop skills for recognizing motivation, responding to ambivalence without arguing for change, and engaging in more collaborative conversations about behavior change. The training also examines the ethical dimensions of influence in helping relationships, including autonomy, values, power, clinician expertise, and the fixing reflex. Approximately 3 of the 6 CE hours focus specifically on ethics.

Equity and access are core values of my work. If cost is a barrier, please reach out about reduced-rate registration.
