Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are both evidence-based practices with strong track records for helping people to grow, change, and heal from traumatic experiences. Both work with the ways that the human brain processes information and responds to experiences of safety and threat to empower people to achieve their goals for living well. In this webinar participants will learn a little bit about both MI & EMDR, as we explore the areas of overlap and connection! It does not presuppose any prior knowledge of either MI or EMDR.

Who Can Attend?

Any helping professional interested in learning more about MI and EMDR! Even though the session may be best suited for those who have already learned the basics of Motivational Interviewing, all are welcome to attend and participate.

After participating in this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the basic aspects of MI, EMDR, and how they work to help with trauma recovery

  • Identify at least three areas of overlap and connection between MI and EMDR

  • Identify at least three strategies for integrating MI and EMDR.
