Intermediate Motivational Interviewing Dates: Part 1 10/01/24 1:00pm - 4:15pm Eastern Time; Part 2 10/02/24 1:00pm - 4:15pm Eastern Time
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, evidence-based, goal-oriented method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence with the individual. This active, skill-building workshop provides participants with a review of the spirit and micro skills of MI, and focuses on using the strategies of the model to elicit change talk in conversation. Participants will integrate the spirit, skills, and strategies in practice conversations, and are encouraged to attend the Advanced MI workshop to develop proficiency in this method. This experience will be practice-driven, and participants should plan to engage with video enabled and be ready to work with the skills discussed.
The Intermediate Motivational Interviewing workshop is six hours in length, and is delivered via the Zoom platform over two days. Each session is three hours and fifteen minutes in length to allow for a break, and will run from 1:00pm to 4:15pm Eastern Time (ET). This course is eligible for 6 continuing education credits for the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), the Massachusetts Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (MBSACC), and the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Community Health Workers.
Participants must attend both sessions in their entirety and complete a course evaluation to receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credit, if applicable.
